World Day of Prayer - Friday, March 6

The World Day of Prayer (WDP) will be celebrated internationally on Friday, March 6th. The churches of Haverford Township will gather for a prayer service at 1pm at Armenian Martyrs Congregational Church, 100 North Edmonds Avenue, Havertown, PA 19083. Everyone is welcome to attend.

World Day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of women and men of many faith traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer on the first Friday of March each year. Throughout the day, we collectively pray all over the world, beginning with the first sunrise and ending at the last sunset. Our prayer follow the sun’s path around the globe. The theme for 2009 is There are many members, but one body. This theme is especially fitting in today’s world because of many global and local conflicts. This year we will be praying especially for women of Papua New Guinea who experience growing violence against them and their children, a continuing breakdown of the family structure, and HIV/AIDS epidemic, and a general breakdown of law and order in their country.
